Appointment with the Sheriff's Department

Before participating in this course, it is essential that you make an appointment with the sheriff's department to submit your application. If you have not yet made this appointment, we are here to assist you with that process.

Application Requirements

To submit your application, you will need to provide the following documents:

Valid Government-Issued Photo ID

Ensure you have a current and valid form of identification.

Reference Document

Please prepare a document that includes four references. Each reference should provide the following information:

  • Name
  • Address
  • Phone Number
  • Email Address
  • Relationship to you (Please note that references cannot be family members.)

Proof of Residency

You will need to provide two documents that confirm your current residency. Acceptable documents include:

  • Utility Bill
  • Property Tax Statement
  • Credit Card Bill
  • Vehicle Registration
  • Voter Registration

Application Fee

Please be aware that there is a fee of $159.00 payable to the sheriff's department at the time of application submission.

On the same day as your application submission, we will conduct classroom instruction, which will cover the following topics:

Firearms Education

Understanding the basics of handguns, shotguns, and AR-15s,including:

  • Types of ammunition
  • Transportation guidelines

Shooting Fundamentals

This section will cover marksmanship fundamentals, culminating in an examination to assess the knowledge and skills you've acquired throughout the day.

Laws and Regulations

Comprehensive review of California and federal laws regarding concealed carry, firearm use, and self-defense.

Looking Ahead to Day Two

The second day of our program will take place at the shooting range. For this session, please ensure you bring:

  • The firearm(s) with which you will be qualifying.
  • A minimum of 150 rounds of live ammunition suitable for the firearms you will be using. This will allow you to practice shooting from various distances.
